I first purchased a Canon XTi almost 2 years ago to just photograph my jewelry. Well with jewelry sales being down and materials being up I started learning about photography. I got bite by the photography bug and hard! I joined forums, read books and took online seminars. In September I upgraded to a 40D. I decided to start offering my art for sale after 2 gallery owners and many friends insisted I started selling my work.

A little about my art and my obsession with bugs. Bugs are not the typical art subject matter now are they? My macro photography started as a pursuit to see things as my boys do. They are both autistic and see so much detail in their world around. Detail I was missing! I had a friend selling their Canon 100mm macro at a good price so I bought it. My boys usually spot the bugs for me, I photograph the bug, we come home and upload the images to bugguide.net to get the ID if it is a bug we don’t know. It is a wonderful learning experience for the whole family.

When showing my work to a few local galleries they were more interested in the bug prints. I was shocked but because they were different (not something you would expect to see in a gallery) they loved them. These bugs have faces, they look like they are smiling, they look they have personalities, they are aware of their surroundings and you. So why not a picture of a smiling mantis giving herself a bath for your bathroom wall? What a great conversation piece!

All my pictures are professionally printed. Then they are dated and signed by me. Almost all the pictures up for sale were taken with my Canon 40D. There might be a few here or there taken with my Canon XTi prior to upgrading my camera. Most of the time you will see the pictures as they were captured with very little adjustment in post processing. Other times when the creative mood hits me I might want a surreal feel to the image and do a lot of post processing to achieve the desired feel and effect.

Every image is test printed before it is offered for sale. Depending on your monitor the color may very. My monitor is calibrated for printing. What I see on my monitor is what I get but your monitor most likely is not calibrated.
